Fatimah was born on February 18th 1964 at Igboora, Oyo state. She is is a professor of Medicine (Pathology) with over 25years experience in teaching, research and service at the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL) & the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. She obtained MBBCh in 1988 with distinction in Pathology and best student prize in Pharmacology (University of Calabar). After completing her postgraduate medical training, she had further training through fellowships and awards on diverse areas of her specialty in Canada, United Kingdom and the United State of America. Her career in pathology as lecturer/consultant started in 1997, rising to the chair of pathology within 11years and has mentored over 45 specialists. She is currently an investigator on eight international collaborative research grants, contributed to over 130 peer-reviewed scientitific publications and presented papers at numerous local and international conferences. She has served as head of department, member/chair of several committes within the University setting, including chairperson Female Hostel Management Committee, member, Court of Governors, CMUL, member Unilag Staff School Board, member, Governing Council, Summit University among others. A product of Muslim Students’ Society, Fatimah has served the Ummah variously, including former Lagos District & National Amirah of The Criterion; member, Central Working Committee of MUSWEN; member, Islamic Medical Association; Supervisor of the LUTH/CMUL Muslim Community Schools, Chairperson Lateefah Moyosore Durosinmi Foundation, among others. She founded FAJIM Medicare Foundation, aimed at improving health status of underserved Nigerians and supporting undergraduate medical students through scholarship grants and mentoring. Prof Fati, is happily married to Alhaji Jamiu Abdulkareem, a retired director at Federal Civil Service and blessed with 3 children.
